About Chelsea Stephenson

Chelsea is a sweet, energetic and knowledgeable yoga teacher in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Her passion is to help people through yoga, guiding them as they learn to heal from the inside out. She loves to work with people and feels she learns so much from every person she comes into contact with. She believes it is very important to always continue learning and exploring, so although she teaches yoga, you may see her practicing along side with you at your favorite studio!

Chelsea began her journey in yoga practicing in the Ashtanga style. The flowing movements full of strength and grace inspired her from the very first moment and she knew yoga would be a part of her for the rest of her life. Like many people, Chelsea began yoga for the purpose of becoming more fit and more flexible. However, once she was in the yoga class she realized that there was something deeper, something underneath the surface of the beautiful postures. Over the course of a few years, Chelsea found that her time on the mat brought her tranquility and respite from a frenzied university schedule. She made more time for yoga and began to branch out, trying other styles such as; vinyasa flow, kundalini, yin yoga, hatha and hot yoga. Chelsea enjoys practicing yoga outdoors and has taught karma yoga with Yoga In The Park, at Hawrelak Park.

Inspired by the wealth and depth of the various yoga styles, Chelsea pursued yoga teacher training and completed her 200 hour Yoga Alliance Registered teacher training course with the World Conscious Yoga Family under the guidance of Yogi Vishvketu. Her training deeply moved something inside of her, and so she travelled to India to complete her 500 hour Yoga Alliance Registered teacher training course. The training took place at Yogi Vishvketu's Ashram, Anand Prakash Yog Ashram, in Rishikesh.

In India Chelsea greatly increased her knowlege and understanding of Yoga. She was blessed to be given the spiritual name Jnan Murti (pronounced Gyan Murti) which means "the embodiment of pure wisdom".

Chelsea is excited to share what she has learned with her students and she wishes to inspire them to go deeper into what yoga means to them personally.

Om Shanti!
